Effective Date: September 8, 2026

1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“you,” “your,” or “Client”) and Maple Strings Music Studio Ltd. (“Maple Strings Music Studio Ltd.,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a guitar-studio business located at 4127 Crowchild Trail SW, Suite 204, Calgary, AB T3E 6J7, Canada.

By booking, purchasing, accessing, or using any of our services, website, online materials, or in-person instruction, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, as amended from time to time. If you do not agree, you must not use our services.

If you are under the age of majority in your province or territory of residence, you may only use our services with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf.

2. Scope of Services

Maple Strings Music Studio Ltd. provides music education and related coaching services focused on guitar instruction, including but not limited to:

  • Private guitar lessons;
  • Beginner guitar programs;
  • Electric guitar technique coaching;
  • Acoustic fingerstyle instruction;
  • Music theory for guitarists;
  • Songwriting and arrangement support; and
  • Live performance preparation.

Services may be delivered in person, online, or through a blended format, as determined by availability, scheduling, and the specific package or program purchased. We may modify lesson formats, curriculum, repertoire, teaching methods, and staffing at our discretion, provided that any material changes do not unfairly deprive you of the essential nature of the service purchased.

We do not guarantee specific educational outcomes, performance results, exam results, competition placement, or artistic success. Progress depends on individual effort, practice, attendance, and other factors outside our control.

3. User Obligations and Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information when booking or communicating with us;
  • Arrive on time and prepared for lessons, including bringing required instruments, accessories, and materials;
  • Maintain your instrument and equipment in safe and usable condition;
  • Follow studio rules, safety instructions, and reasonable directions from instructors and staff;
  • Conduct yourself respectfully toward instructors, staff, other clients, and any visitors to our premises or online sessions;
  • Use our services only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms;
  • Not record, reproduce, distribute, or publicly share lessons or materials without our prior written consent, except where permitted by applicable law or expressly authorized by us;
  • Notify us promptly of any medical, accessibility, safety, or other relevant concerns that may affect participation; and
  • Supervise minors as required and ensure that any minor participant complies with these Terms.

You are responsible for ensuring that your device, internet connection, software, and environment are suitable for online instruction where applicable. We are not responsible for interruptions caused by your equipment or internet service.

We may refuse, suspend, or terminate services if you fail to comply with these obligations or if your conduct is disruptive, unsafe, abusive, fraudulent, or otherwise incompatible with the proper operation of our studio.

4. Payment Terms and Conditions

Fees for lessons, packages, programs, or other services will be communicated at the time of booking, purchase, or registration. All prices are in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise and are subject to applicable taxes, including GST/HST/PST where required by law.

  • Payment may be required in advance, at the time of booking, or at regular intervals, depending on the service selected.
  • We may require a deposit or full prepayment for certain lessons, programs, or reserved time blocks.
  • Late payments may result in suspension of services, cancellation of bookings, or administrative fees where permitted by law and disclosed in advance.
  • You are responsible for all charges associated with returned payments, chargebacks, or failed transactions, including bank fees and reasonable administrative costs.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing at any time for future bookings or services not yet purchased, subject to any prior commitments made in writing.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, all sales are final once the service period has commenced or a session has been delivered, subject to the cancellation and refund policy below and any non-waivable rights under applicable consumer protection laws.

5. Cancellation and Refund Policy

We understand that schedules change. To help us manage studio time fairly, the following cancellation policy applies unless a different policy is specifically provided in writing for a particular program or promotion:

  • Lessons canceled with at least 24 hours' notice may be rescheduled, subject to instructor availability and package terms.
  • Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged in full and may not be eligible for rescheduling.
  • No-shows are treated as late cancellations and are generally non-refundable.
  • Prepaid lesson packages may have expiry dates, usage limits, and booking conditions disclosed at purchase.
  • Refunds for unused prepaid services, if any, will be determined in accordance with the specific package terms and applicable law.

If Maple Strings Music Studio Ltd. cancels a lesson or service for reasons within our control, we will offer a rescheduling option or a refund for the affected session, at our discretion, unless a different remedy is required by law.

Refund requests must be submitted in writing to our contact information listed below. Approved refunds may be processed using the original payment method within a reasonable period. Administrative charges may apply where permitted and disclosed.

Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection legislation in Alberta or other applicable Canadian laws.

6. Liability Limitations

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Maple Strings Music Studio Ltd., including its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and instructors, shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, or emotional distress, arising out of or relating to the services or these Terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from or related to the services or these Terms shall not exceed the amount paid by you to Maple Strings Music Studio Ltd. for the specific service giving rise to the claim during the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or the minimum amount required by law, whichever is greater.

We do not exclude or limit liability where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful, including for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, to the extent such liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.

You acknowledge that participation in music instruction may involve ordinary risks, including minor physical strain, equipment-related issues, and travel to and from the studio. You are responsible for using equipment safely and for seeking appropriate medical advice if you have concerns about physical participation.

7. Intellectual Property Rights

  • You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use materials we provide solely for your personal, non-commercial learning purposes.
  • You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, publish, modify, create derivative works from, or publicly display our materials without our prior written consent.
  • Any recordings, notes, or copies made by you of lessons or materials remain subject to these Terms and any applicable law, including copyright laws.
  • Unless otherwise agreed in writing, any original songwriting, arrangement, or composition work developed during lessons may remain subject to the respective rights of the creator, and no transfer of ownership is implied by payment for instruction alone.

If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas to us, you grant Maple Strings Music Studio Ltd. a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide license to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate that feedback without compensation, subject to applicable law.

Maple Strings Music Studio Ltd. shall not be liable for any delay, cancellation, failure to perform, or interruption of services caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, fire, flood, severe weather, power outage, internet disruption, labour disputes, government action, public health emergencies, transportation interruptions, or equipment failure not caused by our own negligence.

In such circumstances, we may reschedule affected services, provide alternative delivery methods where reasonable, or suspend services until the event has ended. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to minimize disruption.
